Clothes and Personal Hygiene:
Let all the cotton, lose and comfortable clothes come out of wardrobe. Yes cotton is the safest material to be worn during moist monsoon days. They are dried up easily without leaving your kid with any skin allergies. Avoid tight fitting clothing.
Keep the body dry and Talcum powder must be applied to all the folds of kid’s skin as any dampness’ anywhere in the skin will cause injection.
Dampness and moisture in the shoes, socks and feet can lead to fungal infection on the feet of the kids. The children’s feet, shoes and socks must be kept dry and clean all the time. Leather, suede and cloth shoes must be avoided during monsoon.
Over all Hygiene:
Mosquitoes and flies attack is most common in the house during monsoon .it’s very important to keep their room well ventilated, clean and dry. The floor must be mobbed with antiseptic liquid to avoid any infection. Coolers and flower vases in the homes must be cleared regularly. Door and windows must be closed in the evening to avoid the incoming flight of mosquitoes. Make them habituated to keep their hands clean and dry by washing them with antiseptic soap or liquid.
Keep your child well hydrated with healthy juices and liquid intake. It’s safer to not eat outside at all during monsoons. Digestive system of kids is slowest in monsoon hence it is safe to give them home cooked fresh food. Fruits vegetables must be washed properly before eating. Best is to give boiled water or filter purified water to kids. Boiling and filtering will kill the disease causing microbes.
Over all Safety: Other than the above measures, the over all safety also includes sending the kids in proper rain coats and rain gear which can save them from getting drenched every now and then.
The home indoors and outdoors must be kept clean and dry so that the toddlers can enjoy playing indoors without slipping and getting hurt.
A Pre monsoon check must be done in the house with toddlers around you like repairing the water clogs, sharp edges, dripping tap, Electric Switch boards covered and many more minute checks.
Be a smart parent and keep a basic medical kit ready and handy all time well in advance. Basics like Dettol, bandage, Sofromicine, Boroline, Paracetamol, Vicks, thermometer, etc are the must haves of the medical kit .
Since outdoor play is prohibited for them, make sure you don’t let your child feel bored and be prepared to keep them engaged within the house with indoor games like carom, toys, music, dancing playing hide and seek with them and much more fun games.
So dear parents by following all the above, have endless fun with your toddler and enjoy the Monsoon at its best without worrying much about the consequences as they all have been taken care already. Yeppi!!!
